Bad Boy of Business, Sean “Diddy” Combs, to Speak at ad:tech SF 2014

This year, ad:tech SF’s keynote speaker is none other than Sean “Puffy” Combs. If the name doesn’t sound familiar, he’s also gone by Diddy, P. Diddy, and Puff Daddy.

The self-proclaimed “bad boy” was born in a housing project in Harlem and now has a record label, fashion lines, stakes in the liquor industry,TV shows, a TV channel, and is rumored to have recently bid $200 million for Fuse TV Network. In short, Combs’ business ventures vary as much as his stage names (fun fact: Combs reverted back to the name Puff Daddy to get in touch with his “roots of aggression and intensity and relentlessness” while he was preparing to launch Revolt TV).

So why is he delivering the keynote at ad:tech SF?  Before we even get into that, let’s just acknowledge that the guy must be pretty brilliant in order to get one of the world’s largest and most well respected advertising technology conferences to give him prime time in order to fundamentally plug and promote his newest business venture, Revolt TV.   But more in keeping with the focus of the show, Combs will speak on how RevoltTV approaches content distribution and curation (maybe his new nom de plume should be Sean “Content is King” Combs?), why social is a fundamental building block of the company, and how music will bring young people back to television.

One of Combs’ songs features the line “addicted to getting money” and he’s certainly put his money where his mouth is. Forbes valued Combs at $580 million in 2013 and predicted that he would become hip hop’s first billionaire. In honor of the self-made millionaire, we present his 1997 hit “It’s All About the Benjamins.”  Enjoy and we’ll see you in the front row at ad:tech.
